In contrast, man’s life is turbulent because of his existence. His self, built on wants and attachments, is what keeps him from becoming one with the world. Life, as man knows it, is not righteous because it is centered on false existence—created by habits, desires, and learned behavior. These learned actions become his life, and that life becomes a hang-up. Due to these hang-ups, man cannot see the unhindered light that always shines. Though wants and attachments appear to exist, they do not in Truth. And though they appear to not exist, they do in man's delusion. Existence and non-existence are one, but man is unaware because he dwells in the individual self, rather than in the Whole.
