Multimedia performance | Chi Diaries | TEDxJohannesburg

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Chi Diaries open TEDxJohannesburg 2014 with a multimedia performance combining music, video art and dance to tell the story of South Africa’s first 20 years of democracy. In a highly visceral piece, they offer a timely reminder of the narratives that have given shape and form to the society that South Africa has become—from fear to hope, and from hope to freedom. This Chi Diaries piece was curated by Robert Machiri and co-curated by Charles Nhamo Rupare. The performance featured contemporary dancer Vera Ephraim, Nyameko Nkondlwane on trumpet, Nkululeko Biyana on bass guitar and video artist Tabita Rezaire.
