The Carlyle Hotel New York: America’s Iconic Hotel Born of the Great Depression

The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, is arguably one of America’s most famous hotels. Built after the economic depression following World War I, the Carlyle was built as a residential hotel, which housed, not only America’s most wealthy, but even the former president John F. Kennedy was said to hold an apartment on the 34th floor for the last ten years of his life. Fast forward to the year 2021. This hotel has one of the strictest covid-19 regulation policies, requiring a proof of vaccination from each one of its guests and residents, which above all else made me feel welcome and safe. This was only one aspect of the personal touch they added to the experience of every hotel guest. They know each guest by name and greeted me personally, from the time I first arrived to every time I would return from my daily excursions. Despite the nature of its immense size, it felt personal like a hidden boutique hotel. Personally speaking, the suite I reserved was immaculately decorated with modern interior design and comfortable king bed. Everything in the mini bar was complimentary including beer and wine. The room overall made me feel as if I never left home. The dining was closed out of an abundance of caution during these covid times. The gym was also limiting entry to two guests at a time. The elevator has a nice unique feature: A personal sized chair for guests to sit on during their ride!
