We're checking out something fun that I've been looking forward to. *KeyTok was kind enough to send me this "Beat Boy" Smile profile keycap set to try! I grabbed the Turn to 90's Smile set as soon as I could get my hands on it and it quickly became one of my favorite sets. Now we've been blessed with even more fun, smile-profile goodness! We also know I'm a sucker for anything audio-related! Inspired by the extremely capable EP-133 K.O. II sampler/drum machine from Teenage Engineering, the Beat Boy set is quirky and interesting. Making reference to the knobs, buttons, and display on the K.O.II, the kit includes 194 keys (YES! You read that right!) that will literally fit any board you could conjure up... with a ton of variety within that! I mean... do you want to change your f-row out every other day? You're covered! The Smile profile is something I've really come to enjoy! Think Cherry profile with easy access and some sexy curves. Lower lips, rounded edges, intentional sound tuning... they're unique. After I got used to them, I found that I actually typed more quickly on Smile profile than standard Cherry profile. The dye-sub PBT is thick and the legends are clear and do a great job of mimicking the text on the K.O.II.
