In this series of Periodic Table of Google Analytics, I’ll show you how awesome this analytics tool can be. We have a guest host today on our show. Peep Laja, the founder of ConversionXL, will be sharing on segment settings within Google Analytics. Segment is a way to zoom in on a portion of your visitors. Visitors can be segmented based on, among other things: traffic source, device, behaviour, or even a combination of these. Segments is useful to compare the conversion rates between these different groups of visitors. Peep points out that we cannot assume causality between the segments (or their behaviour) and conversion rates, the relationship is only a correlation. But we can improve the odds of it being a causal relationship by running A/B split testing, and gather a bigger sample size.
