Lisa (with score)

By Earl Richard Drehmer, Sr. This is a very sentimental piece. I hope you will experience the same sweet, tender, happy, yet sad feelings I have whenever I play it or hear it. This is one of the most planned-out pieces of music I have ever written. However, it took on a life of its own as I wrote it. In one section I had written the first and last parts. The beginning and end of this section approached each other and eventually were only 1 measure apart. The problem with connecting them was that the first half ended in a different register from the beginning of the last half. For 1 full day I couldn't figure out how to connect them. Finally I realized that the piece has a common harmonic sequence that could be used there and it fit perfectly. Now I can't imagine how any two parts could fit together so well as this. This is a good example of how each piece of music is its own universe. By the way, cats have nothing to do with this music. I just like cats and music.
