How to Make Cast Sugar Easter Eggs with Edible Papers - Part 1 (The Outsides)

It's almost Easter, and I've got some egg-citing projects for you! (Sorry, couldn't resist . . .) I'm sure you're familiar with panorama sugar eggs - you know the ones with the little candy Easter vignettes inside? Well, we're going to make a bunch of them together in the next few videos! In this first part of my two-part mini series, I show how to cast the sugar egg pieces and decorate the outsides in a not-so-traditional style. Instead of laying on royal icing thick and heavy, as is usually done, I demonstrate a "lighter" look using a combination of edible papers and small royal icing transfers. And in Part 2 (coming next week), I put all of the pieces together! NOTE: Cast sugar dries quite hard, so this project - though theoretically completely edible - is primarily decorative. IF YOU LIKE THIS VIDEO, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel. It is only through your support that I can afford to make more videos. THANK YOU! RELATED RECIPE: Basic cast sugar = 1 cup granulated sugar plus 1 tablespoon cool water (mold when damp; dry about 3 hours and scoop out insides; air-dry overnight to thoroughly dry) RELATED LINKS: Cast Sugar Easter Eggs with Edible Papers - Part 2 video (Assembly):    • How to Make Cast Sugar Easter Eggs wi...   Cast Sugar 101 - Part 1 video (How to Cast Sugar): http://tinyurl.com/n9s25kj Cast Sugar 101 - Part 2 video (How to Repurpose Leftover Cast Sugar): http://tinyurl.com/m4rmmbu Royal Icing Transfer video:    • 2-D Royal Icing Transfers (Part 1 - T...   Wilton Egg Molds source: http://tinyurl.com/3579da; NOTE: I believe these molds (the ones I used in the video) are no longer in production, but here is a suitable alternative: http://www.kitchenkrafts.com/product/... A NOTE ON RUBBER STAMPS: Not all stamps and ink pads are food grade. I always recommend using food-grade tools on any products intended for consumption. Currently, the best sources of food-grade stamps and ink pads are: https://www.sweetstampen.com/index.asp and http://www.wilton.com/. A flat, folded stack of paper towels can also substitute for an uninked ink pad.
