Thief Compendium - Bafford Guard (Unique Skin)

Lord Bafford's Manor is an interesting level as it shows that Lord Bafford is basically the only manor location lacking its own individual guards. Sure, the Standard guards are not really used heavily elsewhere, but beyond the Bafford Sergeants there really aren't guards here having their own identity. Even though the Standard Guards have a variation called the Bafford Guard, the only difference is a decrease in their general awareness of the world around them, meaning they are simply made easier than the stock guard for that mission. Note this usage of Standard Guards, instead of Lord Bafford's Manor having its own identity, was not always the case. There is a model in the files called oldexpbafeg. Going into DromED and changing the name of one of the front gate guard models to this (plus removing the other two for clarity's sake), we are able to see the design for the Bafford Guard before he was replaced with stock guards. As seen in the video, he looks a lot like the Bafford Sergeants, which isn't surprising due to the striking difference in coloration between the Bafford Sergeants and the Standard guards. Note that this guard's chest has more in common with the Standard guard, specifically the fact that there are straps compared to the more open model of the Bafford Sergeant. There is also a missing black bar around the helmet that is seen on the Bafford Sergeant. A big difference is the leggings and arm-pieces, the Bafford Sergeant has purple while these guys have a noticeable tan covering. Finally, the face is of course different from the goatee face seen on th Bafford Sergeant. Needless to say, nothing here is too striking, but it is an interesting piece of history to look at. As said, Lord Bafford's Manor has always appeared somewhat odd due to the total change in the guard's armor, so this missing link serves to explain what exactly happened.
