Bangladesh’s Yunus Makes Pitch to China, Calls India’s Northeast “Landlocked” | Vantage with Palki Sharma Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser to the Bangladesh government recently completed a four-day visit to China. During his trip, he met Chinese President Xi Jinping along with several Chinese investors. During a summit last friday, Yunus told Chinese investors that India’s Northeast states were landlocked and the Bangladesh is the only guardian of the Indian Ocean. He urged Chinese companies to invest in Bangladesh and use Bangladesh to mass-produce goods that could be exported worldwide. In the latest development, Yunus got a call from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Sharif has extended an invite to Yunus to visit Pakistan. Meanwhile, Yunus is set to participate in BIMSTEC on April 4, which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand. However, a meeting between Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not been confirmed.
