Being stretched on the rack has got to be one of the worst things you will ever experience during the Medieval times, especially if you are accused of high treason and/or adultery. Just the sight of the rack or the sight of someone being stretched on it will make you faint. It is also notable that you will hear the loud sound of popping noises from broken bones and snapping cartilages, and also, a person can have his limbs completely torn off from his/her torso if stretched for a very long time. Even if you survived being stretched on the rack without your limbs completely torn off their sockets, it is virtually impossible for one to walk because of the damage the rack has done to the victim’s limbs. Technically, you will be crippled for life. This is widely used for extracting confessions just as was depicted in the video from the Emmy Award-winning historical drama series, The Tudors.
