GET THE CHECKLIST Go to: https://abeckermarketing.com/2025-sho... This is the easiest, most efficient way to achieve the following conversion tracking goals on Shopify sites: 1) dynamic values conversion tracking 2) enhanced conversions 3) item_ID hits for Google Ads Both #1 and #2 also apply to Microsoft Ads (possibly #3 but MS Ads doesn't have a way of confirming this in the MS Ads console as of February 2025 when I recorded this, though you can check and see it in the MS Ads UET Tag tool (only works in Edge browser as of February 2025) Setting conversion tracking up in the past involved adding code to the theme.liquid file, the store preferences and/or checkout settings sections in Shopify. This was clunky and inefficient because code was easily erased during theme updates or when another developer worked on the Shopify site. The new method, using Shopify's "Customer Events" framework is far better because you can store tracking code in a single place, label it, then update is without making any changes to the theme.liquid file (or to any other files). A BIG IMPORTANT NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD READ: Google Tag Manager cannot see and degug events in Shopify as of the posting of this video. However, that doesn't mean that GTM, Google Ads and MS Ads cannot receive those events. Those events are just not surfaced to a public facing code that GTM can view. That's the point of the Shopify Customer Events framework; it hides sensitive user data completely from public-facing tools, bots, etc. for security. Don't worry! You can set everything up just like I have here and it will work (unless there's something different in your Shopify setup that's not accounted for here).
