ND filter stands for Neutral Density filter which is essentially just sunglasses for your camera lens. When asking why you need ND filters, you can find out quickly by trying to film outside during the day with a low shutter speed. Your footage will be very overexposed and how ND filters work is by blocking light so you can keep that lower shutter speed.
