WATCH: How 'uncommitted' protest impact 2024 election

While President Joe Biden is on his way to winning the Democratic nomination again, as have most incumbent presidents in recent American history, there's been a growing movement of primary voters who have marked "uncommitted" on their ballots. These voters, as the PBS NewsHour's Laura Barrón-López reports, are unhappy with Biden's policy positions toward Israel in that country's war against Hamas and want the president to call for an immediate and permanent cease-fire in Gaza amid the humanitarian crisis there. So, instead of voting for Biden on their primary ballots, they mark "uncommitted" or "no preference" as a form of protest vote. How is the president's reelection campaign responding to this? "The president believes making your voice heard and participating in our democracy is fundamental to who we are as Americans," Lauren Hitt, a Biden campaign spokesperson, told the NewsHour. "He shares the goal for an end to the violence and a just, lasting peace in the Middle East. He's working tirelessly to that end." But, there are some warning signs coming through from these protest votes.
