Vibrant Village Programme-II, ensuring last-mile connectivity

The Union Cabinet approved the Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II), a transformative initiative aimed at the comprehensive development of villages located along India's international land borders. With a total outlay of Rs. 6,839 crore, this Central Sector Scheme seeks to enhance living conditions and livelihood opportunities in strategic villages across various states and Union Territories, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and more, until FY 2028-29. The programme aims to create prosperous and secure borders, control trans-border crime, and integrate border populations with the nation, making them crucial allies for internal security. VVP-II will provide funding for infrastructure development, education, tourism, and sustainable livelihood opportunities, tailored to the specific needs of each village. It emphasizes all-weather road connectivity, telecom, television, and electrification, ensuring that these villages are well-connected and vibrant. By organizing cultural activities, fairs, and awareness camps, the programme aims to boost tourism and promote local heritage.
