As for The Cult, the core of the band still centers on founding members Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar), joined by seasoned musicians John Tempesta on drums and Charlie Jones on bass. Their set began with a bit of spiritual cleansing—saging the stage before launching into a hard-hitting start with "In the Clouds." The setlist covered their discography, with some songs standing out more than others. Hits like "Wild Flower" and "Sweet Soul Sister" energized the crowd, but newer tracks, such as "Mirror" from their 2022 album Under the Midnight Sun, felt a bit subdued. Astbury’s voice has aged well, sounding strong and true to form, even if some of the high notes were slightly out of reach. While “Fire Woman” seemed to lack the energy of its recorded version, the audience came alive for fan-favorites like “Rain” and the always-raucous “Love Removal Machine.” The encore featured their signature goth-tinged rock with “Brother Wolf, Sister Moon” and ended with the timeless “She Sells Sanctuary.” Although I missed hearing “Wild Hearted Son,” it was a satisfying performance.
