Ben Affleck looks back at working with Matt Damon and Kevin Costner on Field of Dreams

Ben Affleck looks back at working with Matt Damon and Kevin Costner on Field of Dreams Ben Affleck denies that he and his close buddy Matt Damon were extras in Kevin Costner's 1989 film Field of Dreams. "Kevin is being kind saying he remembers us, because we were not memorable," Affleck demanded during the Jimmy Kimmel Live broadcast on Wednesday. "There were many people there, and we were simply a pain in the ass — you know what I mean? Although it's kind of him to say so, I have a good feeling he recalls the actors who had lines. Affleck was keen to work whenever he could, and the sports film was shot during his first few years of obtaining professional credits. He told Kimmel that "we were, you know, serious actors from a very young age," and that's how we met the local casting director in Boston, who would cast when a film was coming to town. We would go do additional labor because we aspired to be actors, like in Field of Dreams, when they required extras. Affleck remembered Costner, but he was positive that Costner didn't remember him. "You know, it was like seeing God. Regarding Costner's co-star, Affleck remarked, "He and James Earl Jones." The filmmaker and actor from Argo made a joke about wanting to ask Jones, who portrayed Darth Vader in the Star Wars series, to refer to him as Luke or his father. "We visited Fenway Park for about two days. Everything about it felt really large, and I recall that Costner took batting practice and we believed we knew that actors were somewhat dishonest. They came to the realization that they should not undervalue the Bull Durham star's athletic abilities. "And I will say, he banged a bunch of balls off the Green Monster," remarked Affleck. "Hit a ball out of the park." After that, he moved into a memory of Damon that Kimmel, who has had a humorous, fictitious quarrel with Damon for years, really liked. "Twenty years later, I was looking through an interview of Matt," remarked Affleck. "Then I see him say in this interview, 'Yeah, I hit the ball off the Green Monster during batting practice at Fenway Park.'" "Are you remembering yourself as Kevin Costner, Matt?" I said. According to Kimmel, that sounded right. The Accountant 2, Affleck's most recent film, will play a larger part when it opens in theaters on Friday.
