Shruti Haasan juggles between being an actor and professional singer - leaving everyone in awe of all her talent & charisma. The actor entered the ring and spoke to Filmfare's Editor-In-Chief Jitesh Pillai about working with directors A.R. Murugadoss & Harish Shankar in Telugu cinema and reveals how she was considered unlucky initially in the industry. Shruti shares about her childhood, growing up as a curious kid, her time when she took a break from films and waiting for the right projects to come her way. Haasan mentions acting happened to her organically as her parents Kamal Haasan & Sarika were in the show business right from when they started as child actors. She goes on to talk about her parents' separation which was challenging yet the process humbled her while growing up. So shifting from a Mercedes to a traveling in a local train didn't shock her rather it taught her valuable lessons. Shruti being a trained singer went on to sing for legends like A.R. Rahman & Ilaiyaraaja, whom she considers her idols from the world of music. She also expresses the impact of rock music and reveals her favourite metal & rock artists. While as an actor, she admits on taking time off and working on her skills and reflects on the kind of choices she made while doing certain projects. It is with her international debut film - The Eye where she ended up working with an all female crew and further shared her experience of working with a female director. The actor who will be seen with Rajinikanth in Coolie in her next, gets candid about her learnings from her past relationships, addressing her mental health, navigating sexist spaces and more.
