Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (1689/1690 – 21 December 1752) was a revered Sindhi Sufi mystic and poet, widely regarded as the greatest poet of the Sindhi language. Born in Hala Haweli, Sindh, he belonged to a Sayyid family tracing lineage to Imam Musa al-Kazim . Bhittai's spiritual journey led him to travel extensively across Sindh and neighboring regions, where he engaged with mystics and ascetics. These experiences deeply influenced his poetry, which is characterized by its Sufi themes and lyrical beauty. His work, Shah Jo Risalo, is a compilation of his poems, reflecting on divine love, mysticism, and the human connection to the eternal. The Risalo was first published in 1866 and has since been translated into various languages . Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (1689/1690 – 1752) was a revered Sindhi Sufi saint, poet, and scholar, known as one of the greatest figures in Sindhi literature and mysticism.
