Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has questioned why the Opposition did not “back up Australia” following China’s flare stunt. A Chinese fighter jet dropped flares in front of an Australian Navy helicopter in international waters off the coast of South Korea earlier this month. Foreign Minister Penny Wong has not commented on the incident. “Why doesn’t the Opposition back up Australia?” Mr Albanese asked during Question Time on Tuesday. “Why did they look for political differentiation when this is about our national interest.”
