Hiring the wrong person can hinder your business. To hire the right person, the first thing you want to do is hire for attitude. Attitude makes up 85% of the success of that new hire. It is critical. You've spent a long time building this business to the place it is. Hire people that encourage that success. Why you should hire following a system -To use your time wisely because time is the most valuable asset you've got. -To really dig into candidates' attitude before hiring them. -Protect your existing team from a “bad hire” Questions You NEED to Ask and Why- For the Pre-interview, Phone Meeting 1. "Hey, are you at work now? Are you able to talk?" This questions allows you to know if this person is willing to be disrespectful to their current employer. 2. "Do we have your full, correct name? Do we have your address? Do we have your phone number? Do we have your email?" Get on the internet, and Google each of those individual things. There’s a lot you can find out. 3. "What are you making in your current position?" Now you know what they’re working at now and won’t expect them to ask for more shortly after being hired. 4. "If we invite you for an interview, how will you get here?" If they’re walking to work and you’re nowhere near public transportation, there may be a problem. 5. "Are you available for an interview from 9:00 to 5:00, Monday to Friday?" Know how accommodating you may have to be to interview this potential hire. 6. "Why did you apply for this position," “I’m just looking for a job,” may be the honest answer, but may not be what you want to hear. 7. "Why are you leaving the other company?" "How much advance notice do you need before you can come in for an interview?" Again, look for disrespect of their prior company. Keep in mind something called the Carnegie Triangle. Those are the three points of the triangle when bringing new people onto your team. Attitude Knowledge Skills Attitude will always come first. Knowledge and skills can be taught. Know what you’re looking for in your candidates and look for those qualities in how they answer the questions you ask. You can get everything you need by really listening to what people say and how they say it.
