Footage Details: Location: Costco showroom Device: iPhone 8 with 12 megapixel lens Resolution: 1080P Basic Specifications: Brand: Sony Model: X80CK Size: 65 inches Resolution: 4K UHD Display Type: ADS panel LCD with direct LED backlighting Native Refresh Rate: 60hz Full specifications & Features: https://electronics.sony.com/tv-video... First Impression Based On Demo Footage: The X80K was somewhat impressive for what it is, which is an entry level Sony TV. It was sufficiently bright in a well lit showroom with punchy yet realistic colors & better than average viewing angles due to the ADS panel. Motion was sufficiently smooth, but hindered by its native 60hz refresh rate. It had adequate sharpness & definition, but noticeably softer compared to Sony models higher up in their model range like the X90J. Good shadow detail, but shallow black levels with dark areas looking cloudy & less defined compared to the rest of the image. Overall, a solid TV for cable news & sports watching in an average living room setting, but not ideally suited for critical content viewing in a darker environment such as a dedicated home theater room. In Person vs Video Representation: The video was shot on an iPhone 8 with a 12 megapixel lens & it was recorded at 1080P. Overall, the video is fairly accurate to what I saw in person, but there were some differences: Light areas & scenes are shown in video as brighter & more blown out. In person the lighter scenes were less washed out & more clearly defined. Darker areas & scenes were were shown on camera as darker & crushed. In person they was more details in them, but they also cloudier & shallower. The colors are represented in video as deeper & with more contrast. In person they slightly lighter & less cartoonish. The clarity & sharpness of the display is over emphasized in the video. In person the image was softer with less depth & edge sharpness to people & objects.
