For our 2024 Barrel Reserve, our winemakers set aside lots of wine that they feel has the qualities needed to be enhanced with barrel aging. These wines are firm, dark, and rich with bold tannins. Barrel aging softens those tannins and rounds out the texture, making it velvety and smooth. The oak also adds spicy cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove notes, along with sweeter vanilla and caramel notes. Cabernet Sauvignon is the ideal frame for a blend as it adds structure and depth. Juicy grapes like Merlot and Zinfandel bring in lusciousness, while grapes like Malbec and Petite Sirah add dark color and violet flavors. The combined symphony of these has a palate loaded with blackberry, black current, clove, dark chocolate, and coffee flavors.
