#CourtroomDrama #JusticeServed #AggravatedAssault #20YearsSentence The hearing for Joby Wells began while other attorneys were still arriving. Wells faced two motions to revoke his deferred probation from two aggravated assault cases—one involving family violence, both classified as second-degree felonies with a 2–20 year sentencing range. Wells had previously pled true to counts 3, 4, and 6. The court reviewed updated pre-sentence and jail incident reports. During the hearing, Officer Stevenson testified about an April 2024 incident in which a woman reported harassment by Wells, her ex-boyfriend. Stevenson said Wells called the woman approximately 41 times, even using anonymous numbers. Bodycam footage and phone logs supported the claim. The judge found sufficient evidence to deem counts 1, 2, and 5 true, along with Wells’ plea to counts 3, 4, and 6. Wells’ attorney argued for a second chance at probation, noting Wells had missed ISF (Intermediate Sanction Facility) treatment due to a bed not being available. The defense proposed that Wells undergo ISF and relocate to Midland for a job opportunity in the oil fields. However, the prosecutor strongly opposed leniency, citing Wells' history of escalating violence—ranging from previous family assault convictions to ramming a victim’s vehicle and harassing women via masked calls. He stressed that Wells was a danger, and that his conduct—showing up in all black at 2 a.m.—was deeply alarming. Wells spoke briefly, claiming he wanted to improve for his children. But the judge emphasized his repeated failure to change and disrespect for authority, including five jail violations in one month. Citing public safety and repeated probation failures, the judge sentenced Wells to 20 years in prison for each case, to run concurrently, with a deadly weapon finding in both.
