Roham Moftakhar, MD, is Chief of Neurosurgery at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, where he also serves as an associate professor of clinical surgery for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia. He received his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, and completed his neurological surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison. He completed fellowships in neuroendovascular surgery and cerebrovascular/skull-base surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, and is board certified in neurological surgery. Dr. Moftakhar's clinical interests include general neurosurgery (brain surgery), endovascular/vascular neurosurgery, carotid endarterectomy and stenting, cerebral angiography and coil embolization of aneurysms. Conditions he cares for include brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, strokes, intracerebral hemorrhages, moyamoya disease, brain tumors, pituitary tumors, acoustic neuromas, intracerebral hemorrhages, trigeminal neuralgias and hemifacial spasm.
