Matter is made up of molecules and particles. Atom is called the building blocks of matter. States of Matter Solid ●Solids have fixed shape and fixed volume. Solids like rubber and spring do not have fixed shapes because their molecules are not arranged properly. When we break solid each piece will still hold the definite pattern in which its molecules are arranged. Liquid ●The molecules of liquids are not tightly packed that’s why liquid does not have a fixed shape. The particles of liquids have a weak force of attraction. So, the molecules in a liquid move freely. Gas ●The molecules of a gas are loosely packed as compared to solids and liquid. Negligible force of attraction between the molecules. Gas do not have fixed shape
