Alexander Peverett - Reality Television (Electric Dreams edition) Recorded live at the Electric Dreams Tate Lates, Tate Modern, London, 29th November, 2024. Informed by Perceptual Art, Systems Art, fractured realities and peak experience, Reality Television is an experiment in unifying historical and contemporary electronic art tools (especially video painting and direct video synthesis devices), their ideologies and aesthetics, in the creation of concrete abstract form. Generative systems were coded and feedback loops between the audio and visual explored. The system for this version centres around the Fairlight CVI and Max MSP. Additional technologies utilised include Apple Macbook, Commodore Amiga, Yamaha MSX and Windows/DOS computers, DIY video synthesizers, M.A.S.F. and other noise devices, and a Clavia Nord Modular synthesizer. Reality Television is a series of improvised generative works that were first presented at the Magnetic Horizones event at Sendai Mediatheque in 2015. Other editions included an installation at the Seeing Sound symposium, Bath in 2018 and an improvisation for Emutelab at The Rose Hill, Brighton in 2018.
