Hobi Living His Best Fanboy Era

I was ready to grab some tissues when Hobi's "On The Street" teaser was released. But then J. Cole appeared and my jaw dropped to the floor. Hobi collects fanboys like Pokemon. Just like them, Hobi is also a fanboy. Hobi attended Billie Eilish's concert with Namjoon, he was accompanied by staff and bodyguards at Lady Gaga's concert, and he was babysitting the Maknae Line at Harry Styles's concert. Out of all his fanboy moments, I think we all agree that his most memorable was with J. Cole. Hobi had always been vocal about his admiration for J. Cole. As early as 2014, Hobi already gave a shout-out to his muse in “Hip Hop Phile." He even named his first mixtape “Hope World” after J. Cole’s first album Cole World: The Sideline Story. In an earlier interview, BTS was asked which artist they wanted to collaborate with. As expected, Hobi chose J. Cole. Things never change for Hobi as he has the same answer in his recent interview. This interview is quite interesting. In 2022, Hobi made history as the first South Korean artist to headline a main stage in Lollapalooza. J. Cole happened to be the headliner a day before Hobi, and he was able to meet his lifelong idol backstage. Consistency is one of Hobi's admirable traits. Here's Hobi talking about "Friday Night Lights" during his meet-up with J. Cole. And here he is telling his idol again about how much he liked his mixtape. When Hobi called J. Cole his muse, he wasn't exaggerating. Here's Hobi calling J. Cole the same title and saying that he inspired him to make his own music. And here's his part in “Hip Hop Phile" again with this specific line. Just like any fan, Hobi was extremely happy after finally meeting his idol. As it turns out, that moment was more than just a meet-up. Hobi later revealed that he took that opportunity to ask J. Cole to work with him. A couple of months later, both worlds merged to create the masterpiece "On The Street" For J. Cole fans, the location of the "On The Street" MV might be familiar. That's because Hobi filmed his part in the exact location where J. Cole shot his 2007 music video, “Simba” Hobi even shared the screen grabs from both music videos and shared them on Instagram. When it comes to his passion, Hobi wears his heart on his sleeve. J. Cole doesn't do collabs that often, but Hobi's sincerity convinced him to work with him. In fact, J. Cole wanted to have direct contact with Hobi. I hope you enjoyed this video as much as I did making it! Xoxo, Colt P.S. Some parts may be muted due to copyright claims.
