Super early bird price 15% off - $679 https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/si... It didn’t take long, we now have the second auto focus anamorphic lens from SIRUI. And this time it is a 20mm. I’m glad that they have kept the T1.8 aperture. People often get confused when using an anamorphic lens, you must shoot through the light all the time. That lighting effect is only one of them. The benefit of using an anamorphic lens is to get make your image pop. It looks a lot more cinematic than just adding the black bar in post. Again (This is for Sony, no problem with the lens) Please give us a firmware update for Sony FX30!! I was excited to test out this anamorphic lens on FX30 as we finally have anamorphic mode on FX30. Unfortunately there are quite a few limitations when using that mode on FX30. First you have to shoot in Log. Not sure why, but I am okay with that. Second, IBIS will be disabled when using that mode. Again, not sure why. Maybe IBIS doesn’t work well with anamorphic lens (But it works fine when you not in anamorphic mode though) The third one is the Auto Focus. And this is the selling point of using this Sirui 20mm and 40mm lens. It’s one of the first anamorphic lens with full time auto focus. But now we can’t use it. The problem is, this lens is made for Super35mm sensor. And FX30 is the only Super35mm cinema camera from Sony has that De-Squeeze feature. The only solution right now is to use the Atomos Ninja V and turn on the de-squeeze mode on that monitor. Overall, I think this is super fun lens to use. The image is nice and sharp. That lighting effect is more noticeable than the 40mm I reckon. Hopefully there are more AF anamorphic lenses coming in the future.
