This was one of the first purchases I made after I graduated college in 2008. I haven't heard a peep of any issues until recently. It's definitely showing its age but the TV still performs great. It seems to be working for now. Not sure how many more years I got. this cleanup and retightening of the ground screws seems to have given me a little more time with it. If not the grounding screws then eventually it's going to need a recap job I'm thinking. each board will have to be removed and the capacitors will have to be replaced one by one. usually 15 to 25 years is about the average lifespan of electrolytic capacitors. My wife and I would likely buy a new TV for the living room while this one gets taken out of service and I painstakingly go through each board and replace all of the capacitors. If that gives the TV a new lease on life then so be it. I have a bit of a sentimental attachment to this TV given that it's been through a large portion of my life.
