This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. There’s a fleet of musicians studying, following, playing, and paying homage to a musician you've probably never heard of. His style, grown out of 1930s Paris, is as unique and exciting and compels its listeners to involuntarily dance. Learn about this man, this genera, this era, and the band that continues the tradition of his sound. Chanson du Chat is a gypsy jazz style trio/quartet/quintet led by guitarist John Papadolias. Steeped in 1930s style of gypsy swing, Chanson du Chat plays lively and energetic music that turns heads. Featured members are Dave Bowers and John Papadolias on guitars, Chad Watson on upright bass, and Jim LeFager on drums and percussion. Chanson du Chat performs standards of the gypsy swing era, the Edith Piaf songbook as well as original compositions.
