In Huixquilucan de Degollado, Mexico on March 22, 2010, four-year-old disabled Paulette was found missing from her bed. The police were contacted, the search began in the house and community, the family utilized the media in a campaign to find the child. Then, nine days later, the body of Paulette was found wrapped in sheets at the bottom of her own bed, between the wooden frame and the mattress. She was found due to the smell of putrefaction but, until then, a friend of the family has slept in the bed and her mother had sat on the bed and gave an interview with a journalist. Her death was ruled accidental, but many Mexicans believe that the family had connections to politicians and that the child was murdered and her body place in that location to be found at a later date. They find it hard to believe her body could have been there decomposing for nine days, the carers making the bed never saw her, the friend and the mother were on and in the bed and did not see or smell anything.
