This is the second in our series of virtual organ concerts performed by professional organists on Hauptwerk sample sets produced by Pipeloops. Today's artist: Christian Brembeck https://brembeck.net/. Christian Brembeck was born in Munich and completed his studies at the Musikhochschule there (graduating with a master class diploma under Franz Lehrndorfer). His extensive, internationally oriented solo career has taken him to most European countries, South America and Far East Asia, while establishing his reputation as one of the most important and interesting performers of his generation. Program: J. S. Bach - Praeludium und Fuge D-Dur BWV 532 This work is one of the young master's most ingenious and virtuosic creations. One can recognize the strong influence of the North German school of Dietrich Buxtehude, but Bach leaves all this behind and reaches an early peak in his musical development. Hardly any instrument is more suitable for the performance of this work than the organ of the Dreieinigkeitskirche Regensburg, which was designed and built in 2020 as a hypothetical Bach organ. The splendor and almost unbelievable gravity of this organ cannot be matched even by some of the original instruments. https://www.pipeloops.com//product_in... J. S. Bach - Sonate in d-moll BWV 527 Johann Sebastian Bach's six sonatas for the organ are the most perfect chamber music ever written for this instrument. The sonatas each consist of three movements, three independent voices are performed on three different sound levels. The Collon organ in the Erlöserkirche in Münster is an organ that seems particularly suitable for performing this music. The sound of the Hauptwerk, Positiv and Pedal is strongly reminiscent of Saxon Silbermann organs, and the relatively direct acoustics of the church greatly support the transparency of the music. https://www.pipeloops.com//product_in... L. Mozart - Variationen in F-Dur ("Für den Merz"), aus "Der Morgen und der Abend - 12 Musikstücke für das Hornwerk "Salzburger Stier" der Festung Hohensalzburg" Leopold Mozart, born in Augsburg in Swabia, wrote a collection of pieces of music together with his colleague Johann Ernst Eberlin, which were played on the "Hornwerk" (a kind of open-air organ) of the Salzburg fortress in the mornings and evenings. The Aria with Variations in F major can be performed excellently on the baroque organ of the Swabian monastery of Maihingen. This organ has some very unusual timbres, including a flute "Cythara". The exquisite timbres of this unique instrument result in a powerful, colorful plenum whose beauty and power are unparalleled. https://www.pipeloops.com//product_in... _M. Reger - Tokkata und Fuge op. 80 Alongside Richard Strauss and Gustav Mahler, Max Reger was the most important late Romantic composer at the beginning of the 20th century. On the occasion of his 150th birthday, one of his most beautiful organ works, Tokkata and Fugue op.80, will be played on the fantastic Furtwängler&Hammer organ in the Kaiserdom in Königslutter. This organ is an outstanding testimony to the art of organ building by this workshop, which was mainly active in Lower Saxony. It can be assumed that this organ is one of the most important of its time in Germany. The magnificent acoustics of the Kaiserdom also contribute to the sound of this magnificent instrument. https://www.pipeloops.com//product_in... F. Liszt - Praeludium und Fuge über BACH The great piano virtuoso Franz Liszt was so enthusiastic about the Ladegast organ of Merseburg Cathedral, built in 1855 (the largest organ in Germany at the time), that he subsequently composed his three most important organ works with this organ in mind. The prelude and fugue on BACH is one of Liszt's most frequently performed works today. The Link-Gaida organ at St. Paul's Church in Ulm is the perfect medium for the sonic eruptions of Liszt's work. Hardly any other organ of the late german romantic period has such a wealth of tonal colors, from the almost inaudible pianissimo to the overwhelming tutti. https://www.pipeloops.com//product_in... C. Franck - Final op.21 The sound world of the organs of his time cannot be separated from the performance of his organ music - with the masterpieces of the organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, the so important, French late Romantic Franck found the soft orchestral sound he had in mind. A few years ago, the organ builder Vleugels had the opportunity to build a faithful stylistic copy of a medium-sized Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Schlosskirche Chemnitz - the sound and acoustics are capable of transporting the listener to a French cathedral. https://www.pipeloops.com//product_in...
