For years Warner Brothers and DC have been sidelining the character in film, relegating him to faceless cameos or quick mentions or… oh god. And in an era where cynicism and hate speech is rising, I’ve always felt that was a massive mistake. And so when it was announced that Henry Cavill was going to be returning as the Big Blue Boy Scout, with a sequel to Man of Steel being developed under a new “DC Studios” led by James Gunn of all people, I couldn’t help but feel… hopeful. A few years ago I pitched "Clark", a smaller scale movie that was inspired by All Star Superman and followed Tom Hanks cast as an older Clark Kent. I’m still pretty happy with that video, and I’m really happy with the response that I’ve gotten to it. But I’ve always wanted to tackle a Henry Cavill led Superman movie, and talk about the ways that you can make what I think is a definitive Superman story work within that universe. Somewhere between the Richard Donner movies and Man of Steel is a perfect balance that can remind the world how important this character really is when we need him most. And I think the title of the movie should reflect that, while still making the connections clear. Tell the world that this is the Superman movie that it needs. And what the legendary character fights for. And so, to no one’s surprise since it seems like the obvious pick, here’s my pitch for "Man of Tomorrow".
