Manacled, a Dramione fanfiction, going viral on Booktok started a chain of events that could make fanfiction illegal -- unless we all work together to keep fanfiction free for all... Twitch:   / lumenvale_   Twitter:   / lumenvale   Tiktok:   / lumenvale   My discord:   / discord   In this fandom video essay and fandom commentary video, I talked about how the incredibly popular fanfiction "Manacled" by SenLinYu went viral on Booktok (the book focused portion of Tiktok), making Dramione and Dramione fanfiction incredibly popular on the platform as well. This virality caused people to try to find a way to make money off the fanfiction via binding and selling copies of it, also known as "fanbinding." But this practice violates copyright law and puts all of fanfiction in legal danger, breaking the fandom norm of noncommerciality.
