Things to do around Dripping Springs - Pedernales Falls Park

Pedernales Falls State Park is one of 80 state parks in Texas and is located only 13 miles from dowtown Dripping Springs. The activities there mostly revolve around the Pedernales River. In addition to picnicing and camping (both tent and RV), swimming, tubing, kayaking, conoeing and fishing are permitted. My favorite part of the park are the miles and miles of trails, both along the river and at higher elevations, where you can hike, bike ride and even horseback ride. The park is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm. Stop at the ranger station along the mail park road to pay your daily use or overnight camping fees. Kids under 13 are free. One note of caution, like most Texas Hill Country waterways, the Pedernales is prone to variable water levels. The river can go from peaceful and calm to a raging torrent in a matter of minutes with floods reaching deapths of 25+ feet. So, pay attention to the weather in the entire area when you make your way to the park. Cheers!
