Dell WD19TB Dock - Erratic fan speed

EDIT: Dell replaced the dock under warranty. The replacement has the same firmware version but the problem is gone. Perhaps it had hardware issues with whatever controls the fan speed the temperature sensor. Every few minutes, and sometimes not for hours, the fan on my WD19TB erratically starts with a chirp sound and then spins at a constantly-changing speed, then almost off, then full speed, then off.... a random number of times, like the thing is breathing. Sometimes it does it a lot of times (like at the start of this video where I also placed a small plastic bag hanging next to it to better show the fan speed) Most of the times it goes to FULL speed one last time to then slowly slows down to a stop. The dock is basically cold, the exhaust air is also cold. The room is only 19 degrees C or less. I have only one DisplayPort monitor connected to it, 1440p@60Hz, an Ethernet connection, wireless keyboard and mouse. The Dock has the latest firmware 01.00.00.04 package. The laptop, a Dell XPS 9570, also runs the latest EC firmware 1.18.1. The operating system is Linux. The discrete NVIDIA GPU is not in use. The laptop can be completely idling or not, it does not seem to affect this.
