A year on a large arable farm in the Netherlands | Part 1 | Franzen Landbouw

Franzen Landbouw is a large scale arable farming enterprise in the Netherlands specialising in vegetable crops. Potatoes, onions, Brussels sprouts, carrots, tulip bulbs, cereals and sugar beet are grown. This wide variety of crops is grown on one of the South Holland islands in the South-West of the country. This modern farming company utilises a fleet of modern Fendt tractors and carries out nearly all jobs in-house. During part one we meet up with the team in late January when - during a very wet winter - a brief dry spell allows them to finish winter ploughing. Early April the land is prepared for a new season and onions are sown. A month or so later we watch the final potatoes being planted. This detailed documentary-style video lets you learn more about arable farming in the Netherlands and which techniques are being used. Tractors shown in the video are all from Fendt: A 943 MT Vario crawler tractor, two 828 Vario S4 models, three 722 Vario S4 models and a 516 Vario S4. Ploughing, compost spreading, cultivating, fertiliser spreading, drilling and potato planting are among the tasks shown. We also take a look at how the farms washes, grades and packs their own potatoes, onions and carrots. Do you want to see more farming action in Holland?
